Does it keep the original layout?

No, and we would rather say so plainly. You get the text as editable paragraphs, in reading order. Columns, tables, images and exact formatting are not rebuilt. If you want to edit the words, this is perfect. If you need a pixel-perfect copy, no browser tool can do that honestly.

Is my document uploaded to a server?

No. The text is extracted inside your browser and the Word file is built there too. Your document never leaves your device — which is the whole point for contracts and records.

Will it work on a scanned PDF?

No. A scan is a picture of text, so there is nothing to extract. That needs text recognition (OCR), which we do not do yet. You will get a clear message rather than an empty file.

Is it really free?
